How are weekly variable working hours calculated if a month begins or ends in the middle of the week?

Table of contents

You can choose from the following three calculation methods.

Calculate by week, including the last days of the previous month

Example

  • Standard hours: Count working hours exceeding 40 hours as overtime.
  • Period:  May 1 to 4. Calculate overtime by including the working hours during the last week of the previous month, April 28 to 30.
  • Working hours: May 1 to 4 0(24.30 hours) +  April 28 to 30 of the last week of the previous month (16 hours)

=  40.30 hours. 0.30 hours exceeding the standard hours are handled as overtime.

You can check the working hours of the previous month by checking the [Week aggregate] option on the time card screen.

To use this feature, select [Include from last month](*) at Employee type setting > Edit > Variable woking hours settings] button>  By week > Aggregate range.

* If "Include previous month" is not an option, internal settings at the support center are required.

Maintain base time when calculating a week’s work less than 7 days (in case the month begins or ends in the middle of the week)

Example

  •     Standard hours: Count working hours exceeding 40 hours as overtime.
  •     Period: May 1 to 4
  •     Working hours: 24.30H

-> Working hours that do not exceed 40 hours and do not add up to 7 days do not count as overtime.

To use this feature, select [from beginning to end of month] at Employee type setting > Edit > Variable working hours settings] button>  By week > Aggregate range.

Include base time when dividing a week’s work by the number of days within a week is less than 7 days (in case the month begins or ends in the middle of the week)

Example

  •     Standard hours: Count working hours exceeding 40 hours as overtime.
  •     Period: May 1 to 4
→ Since this week is less than 7 days, the base time changes.
The following formula is used to calculate the daily rate.
    40 hours x 60 = 2400 minutes
    2400/ 7 days x 4 days = 22 hours 51 minutes
  • Working hours: 24.30H

The base time shown on the time card will also change.

To use this feature, select [from beginning to end of month] at [Employee type settings > Edit > Variable working hours settings] button>  By week > Aggregate range].
